Topic: Designing a Foundation

For foundation and columns, I have been advised to use "dust" rather than "ghagger sand" -- which my contractor is using. ANy thoughts? How do I differentiate dust from what is being used right now..

The comment above talks about the article   "Designing a Foundation "

Ghaggar sand is river sand received from river Ghaggar where as dust is the product received from crusher by crushing stone boulders. The sand required for columns should be coarse sand and silt contents should not exceeds 4 % . You can wash the dust to minimize the silt contents. For more detail about coarse sand/ fine aggregate you can take help from link given below.

in the construction area there was a coconut tree earlier and the same was remoed by cutting upto ground level 3 years back. Now is it necessary to remove by digging same.As the same was dead in the ground. presently It will not give any problem for construction work.
